mind may you wander
for eden is apromise
we can only make to ourselves
and we build it
once we can breathe
there are so many
not
breathing
mind may you wander
for the last time i wrote this poem
the contrasts of my life
were stark
but there was still
hope in my bones
that the horrors
might stop
mind may you wander
for this hard won peace
in my heart
is not fighting demons
anymore
instead it has steeled us
against the world
guilt seeps through the cracks
that fear left
but when my wife
holds me
the cracks fill with calm
mind may you wander
for my garden feeds
more than just my soul
and the tea we drink in the morning
means more than starting my day
the meals we eat together
more than nourishment
mind may you wander
for our family
finds peace
under the rainy tree
mind may you rest
